In late summer of 1947, before hurricanes were given names, a big one hit South Louisiana with a fury that destroyed many of the homes on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. Emile J. Lamulle Sr., a cabinet maker, decided to rebuild his home himself. His home was on the lakeshore, and it was necessary to drive pilings to support his home. With no pile driving companies on the north shore, Emile drove the pilings himself. Neighbors soon saw the craftsmanship that Emile put into his own home, and contracted him to repair or rebuild their homes too. Born from necessity, that effort became Lamulle Construction. In 1985, Emile Sr. retired and his son David assumed the reigns of the business. Lamulle construction has developed from a one man operation in 1947 to one of the most respected waterfront construction firms in South Louisiana with over 35 employees!
